2 av Masteroppgavene omhandlet jack-up riggen:

  • Mulighetsanalyse av Octopuskonseptet
  • Fornybar energi på Octopusriggen

The aquaculture industry is dependent on technological development in order to meet the target of growth. There are two main areas the aquaculture industry is going to develop in the years to come; Larger fish farms further out at sea and landfills on land.

There is a great potential to utilize new food producing areas in the ocean where there are more demanding conditions, especially with regard to waves and wind. The offshore industry has already developed effective solutions for offshore production. The aquaculture industry’s supplier industry has left too much of innovation in a industry that has had exciting technological development over the past ten years. Innovation is not just about equipment that is developed and can be sold to many players (nationally and internationally), but it is also about services. This provides a large market for service companies.

A development with major offshore facilities requires large, advanced structures. Expertise and technology developed within the oil and gas and maritime industries can help solve these challenges when the plants are farther out at sea.
